Our story

My name is Susie Bosveld, and i live with my mother and rescue animals, just outside Huercal Overa, since 2026. Step by step we're turning our first own home ever, with land into our dream home. In the Netherlands we struggled financially at times and my mother was fighting against her demons. We were not happy and i promised my mother that when she retired, i buy for her a house with land. Our first own house. For years i worked 2 jobs ( a custom bicycles mechanic for people with a disabilities and in the council ). And spend almost every weekend at market trying to raise money for our dream. Happy when I've earned a few euro's. We also lived just like we did when we were at the foodbank. Not going out, no buying new things and save every euro for Spain. We officially moved in January 2026 and also now we had to overcome many obstacles, we lived for months without hot water or a car due to bad luck. After every storm, and there were many, we were glad the roof was still on the house. My mother is currently retired. And one dream has already come true: our own house in Spain. Now it's time to make a few more dreams come true: my own online store and writing my next book.

One of a kind

My mother used to Own a hobby shop were she also gave creative lessons to both adults and children.  Already on a young age i loved to help her. In this webshop you'll find items we've made. My mother has her own hobby group on Facebook called: Andrea's worlds craft group.

Beyond the ordinary

I've loved writing from young age. Not novels but fantasy and horror story's. Filling blank pages with my thoughts, which then form a story. But one problem, I always struggle with languages. I have been born deaf and hearing couple years later. 10 years long I had to learn to speak. Don't ask me to blow out candles on a cake, or you'll have a lot of time. But lanquages like my first language dutch was never really good. I am currently learning Spanish at the adult center in Huercal Overa . My teacher must have a lot of patience, especially since I joined halfway the lessons. In the Netherlands I had the opportunity to publish two fantasy books, Sanctuary and Tijdloos and  one about my animals, through a publisher who only prints a book once it has been sold. And where you have to do everthing by yourself. After more than 10 years of not writing, I have started writing again. It will be a horror/magical story set in the mountains of Spain. I'm still looking for people to translate from Dutch to English and ofcourse for a publisher .

West Australië

My mother was born and raised in Western Australia. At 18, she and her parents moved back to the Netherlands, where my grandparents came from. She got married and had children, but Australia always remained in her heart. It wasn't until over 40 years later that she had the chance to return to show my sister and me her native country and her old friends. It was a trip I'll never forget, and ever since then I've fallen in love with Australia, its beauty, and its people. Living there simply wasn't financially possible . But I want to bring Australia to Spain a little through Australian gifts: handmade items inspired by Australia. And I'm also going to collaborate with an Aboriginal artist.

Mas Solana

We've been living just outside Huercal Overa for a few months now. Every day I'm still amazed by the stunning scenery and the sunrises and sunsets. It's wonderful to walk around. Huercal Overa itself is a lovely town. My sister and father helped me tremendously around the house. We didn't have electricity yet, so we had to mix and process countless bags of cement by hand, along with countless other chores, to ensure my mother and I could live in the house with the animals.
We stayed at the Mas Solana B&B on those occasions. It's close to our house and a great place to unwind after a hard day at work. New owners have been in charge since early 2025. They made sure our stay was excellent, preparing breakfast every morning. This B&B is highly recommended. They have a swimming pool, a children's play area, and much more. Erika and Rolf are wonderful people. If you'd like to explore the Huercal Overa area, close to places like Mojar, Lorca, Murcia, Cartegna, and more, Mas Solana is definitely recommended.
